This is a really cool look at Google Glass where Joshua Topolsky from The Verge has a talk with Google Engineers working on the Google Glass team. I can understand a desire to make the device itself melt away and I think to an extent tablets, especially the iPad with its marriage of software and hardware, begin to achieve that.
I also feel that this is a bit awkward and having people looking up and talking to themselves will make the technology more apparent, and not less, but I can also see the value of not having to take out a device to specifically work with it and access the Internet, but to be able to interact with a computing device that's always there.
This device is supposed to be ready by 2013 and I would love to get my hands on one to try it.
